Birthday girl

My baby girl turned 2 yesterday! We had a very busy couple of days preparing for celebration and the day was wonderful, she totally enjoyed being the queen of the day, presents, cake with candles and games with her friends. That look of happiness on her face is so worth any efforts!

  1. AAAAHH!!! What a wonderful look of happiness indeed! She is so cute!! I hope you have lots and lots of pictures from yesterday :)) What is she wearing, is it a dress? The cake is beautiful of course, looks very yummy, is that nuts covering it? And does it have strawberries inside too? This is a great photo, from a great day. Congratulations to her and her family again! (wow... I just kinda congratulated myself too, hehe) :))

  2. Yes, it is a dress from Gap, doesn't look like much in this photo but it was very romantic and frilly ("nezhnoe", I can't find a good word for it in English), I'll send you more pictures. The cake was 5 layers of biscuit (interesting new recipe with lots of oil, gave excellent result) with 2 layers of strawberry puree sweetened with sugar and 2 layers of custard. It is covered with a thin layer of custard and crumbs. With my mother-in-law's advice I put a weight on it after layering and biscuit got very moist, just how I like it and the top became very even, I really think it was one of my best cakes ever, for my taste at least.

  3. OMG, she looks JUST like you here!! Isn't there a picture of you with a birthday cake and pigtails, that looks just like this one, you know the one I am talking about :) She is sooooo adorable!! And the cake does look awesome, I say you should share the recipe, with tricks included! Oh, and I want the pictures too! You absolutely HAVE TO send them to me! :) Did you end up making her a crown?

  4. Yeah, only I was turning 4 on that picture :) I didn't make the crown because I figured that there was no way she was going to wear it for longer than 30 seconds! I'll think about sharing the recipe. And I will send everybody photos, don't worry!
